The people behind ARK Care

Two names, one company

People often ask whether ARK Care and ARK Computer Repair are the same business. They are. ARK Computer Repair Limited is the company; ARK Care is what we call looking after your computer month to month. If you've brought a laptop into the shop, you've already met the people who'd be watching over it.

The two names do different jobs. Repair is when something has already gone wrong and you bring it to us. ARK Care is us keeping an eye on things beforehand — antivirus, updates and backups — so it's far less likely to go wrong at all. And if you run a business with staff and servers, that's our sister company ARK Assist, not us.

Why we built ARK Care

After ten years of repairs we kept seeing the same sad stories. A hard drive that had been warning it was failing for weeks. Antivirus that ran out two years ago. Updates nobody had installed. A backup that quietly stopped working long before the photos were needed.

Big companies pay IT departments to stop all that happening. At home you were left to sort it yourself, or hope for the best. ARK Care gives you the same watchful eye on the family PC or your laptop, for a few pounds a month, with a phone number that gets you a real person.

How we work

• We look first, then tell you the price. We'll tell you what's actually wrong and what it'll cost before we touch anything.
• We'll tell you if it isn't worth it. If a computer isn't worth repairing, or you don't need the plan you're asking about, we'll say so.
• No long-term commitment. Pay monthly or yearly and cancel any time, with no fee for leaving. After the initial 14-day cancellation period, cover normally continues until the paid period ends.
• Plain English. We explain things the way we'd explain them to our own family.
